End of Summer Fun

Our last trip before the end of summer was a camping trip to Shakamak State Park. We spent the weekend with friends, the Knepps, Swartzentrubers, and Yoders. We travelled up Friday afternoon on one of the hottest days of the year. After setting up camp we were all ringing with sweat and wondering just how hot it was going to be the rest of the weekend. Fortunately, it turned out to be more pleasant than expected, and even though it was warm at times, the pool offered some much needed relief. Considering the fact that among the four families there were a total of eight children from ages 8 months to 4 years, things went really well, and the parents actually had time to sit, relax, and visit, which was nice. Tim stayed up with the guys and played cards until midnight Saturday, and thoroughly enjoyed himself aside from the bug bites which have been driving him crazy for the past few days. Sydney and her friends absolutely loved the pool. Addison loved it so much she practically jumped out of our arms to splash in the water. It had a beach area excellent for younger kids, and a big water slide for everyone. Between bike rides, walks around the campground, campfires, great food and fellowship, the weekend was very enjoyable. A great way to end our summer vacation!!
