State Finals Weekend

This weekend our girls tennis team competed in the state finals. This meant that I would be traveling solo for 3 hours with my girls. Tim would be driving one of the buses for the team. At first, I was a little apprehensive about taking on this task. Thankfully, we were able to work out a schedule that wouldn't require us to make any pit stops, and we made it to the hotel in time to meet the team before a little shopping and supper.

On Thursday, Sydney and Tim got the car ready for the big trip. She looks like a pro.

After settling into our hotel room, it was off to the mall for a very quick shopping trip (less than an hour-aaagggh!) Sydney, Addison, and I hopped on the bus with Tim and the JV girls. Sydney absolutely loves any chance she gets to ride the bus. Addison also thought it was pretty neat and couldn't stop looking around.

Then it is was on to Joe's Crab Shack for supper with the team and their families. At Joe's the team thought it would be funny if their coaches' birthdays were recognized ~ both happen to be in June. The waitress came up with a skit for the coaches to act out as we sang "Happy Birthday." In the skit, Tim was a "tourist" being chased by Coach Ed a "shark." As Tim "paddled" through the restaurant, the "shark" was chasing him. They were both good sports as we all had a good laugh. In one of the pictures, you can see that Addison slept through the whole thing.

On Saturday, Daddy's favorite cheerleaders were ready to support the team. Sydney and Addison modeled their new shirts. (Thanks to my mom for putting them together.) This (shirt) was the first one of the day-later on in the afternoon we had to change because Sydney got strawberries on her shirt and Addison had spit up a couple of times on her shirt.

And here is shirt #2 ~ also made by my mom.

Overall, it turned out to be a great trip. Despite the warm conditions and having to watch tennis all day, Sydney and Addison did great. The team fought a tough battle and finished 4th in the state. We are all very proud of their accomplishments.
