Birthday Blessings

Happy Birthday to our main man! Today, we celebrated Tim's birthday in true Tim-style. In other words, there were no gifts or fancy birthday cakes; just relaxation, spending time with his girls, and enjoying a big bowl of strawberry shortcake. The only thing that might have been missing was a STL Cardinals game. ; )

Knowing how much my man loves strawberries, I wanted to make something special this year. That meant no cracked cakes like last year! So, I found this recipe for strawberry shortcake on the Food Network by Paula Deen and gave it my best shot. Tim swiped a strawberry before I had finished which left me with only two for the garnish, but otherwise it turned out pretty good. Much better than last year's flop. Btw, Tim did not eat the entire bowl himself. . .he had to share with three pretty girls and my parents who joined us for supper and dessert.
